When I was three years old I went to the club garden with my friends and my sister. My sister and I were wearing closed shoes with socks which Mummy did not let us take out, while my friends were bare foot. I felt very upset and irritated because it was hot and sunny and the other children were playing in the sand pit with bare feet and I had to sit in the sand with my shoes on. So I whined and cried and I still remember till today. I felt very angry with Mummy for not letting me take out my shoes and socks. Mummy now explained to me that she couldn't understand that I wanted to remove my shoes and the sand was dirty.

Mum speaks
This seems so trivial and yet for years he kept repeating the story and I never understood why he kept narrating this incident till he wrote about being barefoot. I didn’t realise he probably wanted to play in the sand without his shoes and I couldn't decipher his whining. Obviously it bothered him so much all these years until he finally found the words to express it.

I can understand your feeling. I find Bombay very hot and humid and I hate to wear closed toed shoes.
